Treatments of Menopause Symptoms

Menopause is a natural process that takes place in a woman's body. Numerous effects are experienced during this period in a woman's life. Different women experience diverse effects, which mean that there are no specific effects that an individual is supposed to look out for. However, some are common in most women, though every woman usually experiences menopause effects in her own different way. The effects are mainly indicators of the fact that there are changes that are taking place between the hormones that are produced by pituitary glands and the ovarian hormones. The period is when the amount of estrogen that is secreted in the ovaries is reduced rapidly because of the unresponsive nature of the ovaries.

The good news is that there are some medical procedures that are known to control the effects of menopause. However, in order for this to be successful, women who are experiencing the effects are required to follow the right treatment that suits their specific cases accordingly. Hormone therapy is one type of treatment that has proven to be highly effective in women who are experiencing menopause symptoms. The purpose of the therapy is to adjust the levels of hormones in the body so as to reduce the symptoms being experienced. This type of treatment is rapidly increasing in popularity because of its effectiveness.

The process of hormone therapy involves getting a dose of estrogen on a daily basis. In addition, another drug resembling progesterone is also given to women who have not had a hysterectomy. There are different types of doses that are available depending on the level of menopause that a woman is at. There are numerous ways of taking hormone therapy with the most common one being the use of a daily tablet. The other types that are used include a gel being applied on the skin on a daily basis, an implant or a small pellet being put under the skin, insertion of a ring into the vagina, and there is also a nasal spray and skin patches. The administration of the therapy depends on the individual and what she is comfortable with.

There is also the use of bioidentical hormone replacement, which is mainly the use of hormone supplements, which are administered in doses. These supplemental hormones have a particular chemical structure that is identical to the hormones that are naturally produced by the human body. This type of treatment has highly increased in popularity and many women are opting for it. This is another type of hormone therapy whereby a concoction of bioidentical hormones is made specifically for an individual depending on the level of menopause.

The hormones are available in compounding pharmacies and they are available in variable doses. Before the dose is administered, a doctor has to perform a number of tests, which will give the information on how it should be taken. They are some doses that are cream-like and applied on the skin; there are those that are taken orally, while others are in forms of an injection.
